Creating a Project

To start using WebSite Auditor you need to create a project. When launching WebSite Auditor for the first time, the wizard pops up automatically and walks you through all steps of a project setup.

Alternatively, you can launch the wizard by clicking the New button on the main toolbar.

The first step offers you 2 options how you can build your project:

Entire website: use this mode if you wish to collect all pages from your wesbite. In this mode, Website Auditor will start scanning from the homepage and will follow down all internal links that point to other pages, collecting and adding them as separate pages to your project. Pay attention, that depending on the size of your site, the scanning may last up to several hours.
List mode: this option lets you create a project only for a specific set of pages. Enter a list of URLs that you wish to scan, and Website Auditor will build your project only based on those pages, all other URLs from your website will be ignored.

In this step you can also enable expert options to configure crawler settings, or leave the box unchecked to crawl the site with default settings, and simply hit Finish.

Depending on the size of the site and the amount of resources it features, crawling process may take some time. For larger sites, you can speed the process up by setting up reasonable crawling limitations under expert options.
