The Keyword Map module provides all necessary tools and facilities to help you arrange project keywords: categorize them by topics, group them into folders and sub-folders, and map them to specific landing pages.
Using Keyword Map will help you create a good and comprehensive keyword tree, detect overlapping categories, find content gaps and plan your content strategy
The main Keyword Map view includes the list of keywords being tracked in your project with their stats: search engine rank, #of searches, keyword difficulty, expected visits, etc.
Use tabs at the top of the table to switch between available workspaces. Each workspace contains a predefined set of columns that narrow the view to a particular SEO aspect: Rank Analysis, PPC Analysis, Keyword difficulty, and SEO Analysis.
The toolbar gives access to the following commands:
On the right side, there is a pane that shows the tree with keyword groups and mapped landing pages.
A new project will have only 2 folders: All keywords and Ungrouped. If opening an existing project, you may find 2 extra folders: Rank Tracking for the tracked keywords and the old Sandbox.
When switching from one group to another, the main table will display only those keywords, that belong to the selected group.
Under Landing Pages, you can map project keywords to the site's relevant pages. This will help you to manage the following:
To start mapping keywords, do as follows:
To clear keyword mapping:
Move to the Keyword Groups pane -> select Ungroupped/All Keywords -> right-click to open the quick menu -> New Group.
Alternatively, click New Group at the bottom of the pane.
Note: each new group is created as a sub-folder to the selected group. If you want to create a new root folder you have to start by selecting Ungroupped/All Keywords groups. |
To create a subfolder, select a root group -> open quick menu -> New Group:
Use drag-and-drop to move sub-folders and folders into different groups, or drag a subgroup to All Keywords to make it a root group:
To delete a group, select and drop the required group to the trash bin or use Delete in the quick menu.
Note: deleting a group will automatically remove all keywords that belong to this group from your project. If you do not want to lose the keywords, first use Ungroup before deleting the folder. |
In the main workspace, select keywords that you want to add to some group and drop them to into the required folder
Tip: press and hold Shift + Click to quickly select several keywords at once. Use CTRL +A hotkeys to select all visible keywords in the workspace. |
To remove keywords from a folder use Ungroup: select the required folder -> click Ungroup in the quick menu
All keywords from that folder will be moved to the Ungrouped category.
If you have a long list of keywords that you want to quickly arrange into categories, you can use the automatic grouping tool: right-click on the group that you want to re-arrange and choose Regroup by Topic.
Then choose the level of similarity by which keywords will be arranged: low, medium or high. A high level will result in a lot of new groups containing keywords that are very close in meaning to each other.
