Whenever possible, Google tends to offer goods and services located in the searcher's area and other kinds of personalized results. This means that the search results one gets are likely to be tailored for their specific location detected by search engines based on the searcher's IP address. Сonsequently, the results people see when googling the same things from different locations may vary significantly.
In Rank Tracker, you can run a search as if it was performed from the other location than your actual one. This lets you see the results exactly as they are seen by a searcher from any precise location - state, city, or even neighborhood. This option can be of great help if you're physically in one place but run an SEO campaign for another target location.
To start tracking precise local rankings, you'll need to configure a custom search engine localized for the target area in your Rank Tracker project.
Go to Preferences > Preferred Search Engines and:
To parse the results exactly as they are seen from your target location, Rank Tracker will use geo-specific parameters added to search queries based on the Preferred Location set.
You can create multiple customized search engines to track multiple specific areas within the same city/country, all in one project!
You can also remove a localized search engine you've created at any time, or edit it to change its short name - simply hover over it in the Preferred Search Engines menu and click the pencil icon.
Once you finish with the setup, check the rankings for your keywords in the newly created search engine(s). You'll find the results in the respective columns - make sure to add those to your project workspaces.
